Foundation Clinic founder Craig Newland and his company have become the Head of Physiotherapy Services for the Bay of Plenty Rugby Union High-Performance Unit.

The integration of Foundation Clinic's skills and services into the High-Performance team hopes to assist player development by keeping them healthy and on the field through access to quality physio treatment and support.

"The big thing is looking after all of our players. Rugby is a high-contact game, and unfortunately, injuries are a part of the game," says Newland.

"This partnership ensures that we can provide the resources and support to our players to get the proper treatment and correct advice to keep them on the field for longer."

Newland brings an impressive resume of physio experience and skills that he integrated into his business when Foundation Clinic was formed in 2013.

"I graduated from Otago University in 2005. I then worked in private practice for a couple of years while finishing my Post-Graduate Diploma in Sports Medicine," says Newland.

"My first professional job was with the Wellington Phoenix, and I worked with them for around two years. I then worked overseas in England in county cricket for a couple of seasons and England Women's Rugby. I returned home to New Zealand at the end of 2010."

Newland says his biggest passion is the rewarding feeling of helping sportspeople of all levels achieve their dreams by keeping them on the paddock. This passion has helped earn Foundation Clinic's reputation for excellence. Head of High-Performance, Tiana Ngawati, says this was a key factor in getting them on board with the Union.
